Katy is an avid reader and there are books at every turn, which you are welcome to borrow. Plants and souvenirs from their travels clutter the mantelpieces and bookshelves, giving Galvelmore House a lived in and loved feeling.

For breakfast, we offer you a choice of cereals and home made apple muesli, or feel free to request porridge. Our standard breakfast includes butcher made Cumberland sausages, smoked bacon; eggs cooked to order and grilled tomato. However, other options include pancakes with maple syrup, cheese & ham or kippers. Orange juice, tea or coffee, toast and fresh fruit are also available. Katy makes her own jams and marmalades; ever the adventurer, some flavours are obscure but delicious - spiced rhubarb jam; plum, brandy and walnut conserve; hedgerow jam or pineapple and marrow jam - but sometimes it is just plain strawberry! Where possible, we use locally sourced ingredients and fair trade products.

Our bedrooms combine comfort with style, we aim for our bedrooms to give you your haven to escape to, away from the exhaustions of the days activities. All the rooms have televisions and tea or coffee making facilities.

Our Purple Room has a super-king bed, giving plenty of space as a double bed, but it could also be used as a two single beds if required. We have bespoke headboards, designed and made by our friend Allan Craig, in copper worked in an art nouveau style. The room also has a bed-settee, making it both our 'honeymoon suite' and our 'family room'.

Our twin-bedded 'Darjeeling' room overlooks the extensive garden, and its mosaic leg sculpture. The sunsets make this room glow with light in the early evenings. Katy's only ever completed National Trust for Scotland sampler is on view in this room, before she turned to mosaic! Along with some Dutch prints and a Glaswegian pen and ink drawing, the room also has Chinese umbrellas. very international. There is a seat at the window, at which many guests are seen to be reading in the late afternoon sunlight.

The 'Yellow and Green' room combines homemaker America with Chinese style. With a fresh colour scheme, the room is light and airy, with embroidered duvet cover, quilted blanked, sampler (not done by Katy), along with Chinese fans and umbrellas and a large ginger jar. A window seat and small table allow you to relax and write those postcards.
