Breathing Space OutdoorsGuided walks throughout the yearBreathing Space Outdoors - a step in the right direction if you want to: Try nordic walking! What is Nordic Walking? It is fitness walking using specially designed poles. Nordic walking exercises the whole body using 90% of the muscles in the body and can burn over 45% more calories than ordinary walking. It’s a great way to keep up general fitness as well as fitness for the hills. “We all enjoyed our introduction to nordic walking and found your style of teaching the various techniques very engaging. There was a good balance between group tuition and individual advice that helped us all to master the methods of using the poles on different types of terrain. Comrie is a wonderful centre from where many interesting walks begin and I'm sure we will want to return again in the future. “ Bob Want to learn skills for the hills? Women CAN read maps Set out on a journey of exploration you never thought possible. Two days, hands on practical sessions that will help you understand maps and how to use them for hill walking. “From my very basic level I picked up lots of skills vital for the activities I want to pursue in my retirement. Fran was brilliant at recognising the needs of each individual and instilling confidence in you. Her tolerance was admirable, her enthusiasm reflected throughout the course.” Annie Compasses and Contours One day refresher course for those who know the basics of reading a map but want to be more confident about reading the contour lines and working competently with a compass. Compasses and Contours “It was excellent and the best such course I have attended for non competitive participation and learning. Fran’s love for the outdoors infuses her focussed commitment to her students. The patient encouragement to learn anew and refresh the known. A small group is value added. Leisurely and unforced but no slack time. Ever the opportunity to learn and digest and practice.” Liz Both courses can follow the appropriate National Navigator Award syllabus by prior arrangement. Just ask Fran. So what else does Breathing Space Outdoors do? We also offer: Teambuilding and strategic thinking – not the thrills and spills approach or the harem scarem but a more gentle respectful approach combining theory with practical sessions in the great outdoors Leadership skills training for women – recognising that there are fewer women out there leading than there could be. This 2 day course is aimed at women in the voluntary and public sectors. Theory is combined with the opportunity to experience practical sessions in the great outdoors. “Having learnt about my leadership style and others I can put this to good use in future and build on my confidence.” Mary Breathing Space Outdoors is base in Comrie. Comrie provides an ideal base for walking - set on the edge of the highland fault line - it offers everything from gentle strolls to strenous walks over pathless terrain. Best of all it is easy to walk where few others go and get some real breathing space - outdoors. Contact Fran Tel 01764 670541 Email fran@breathingspaceoutdoors.com www.breathingspaceoutdoors.com |
