The 'Hairy Coo' is a fantastic day out for mountain bike enthusiasts, hosted in the beautiful Perthshire countryside by Comrie Croft Hostel, which has its own network of handmade trails in the surrounding hills. This year's third incarnation of the race will be bigger and better - with some key changes!
The start and finish arena has moved to a more spectator and rider friendly spot up the hill above the Mill Pond, affording excellent views of the action as well as the surrounding scenery.
There will be three separate races this year... each of the races has a course of suitable terrain and duration for its participants, courtesy of the hard work of the local mountain bike club. The Wee Race offers one hour of effort to funsters, The Bairns Race is for the youngsters. The Big Race (the main event) is for those no feart o bein' feart.
All the races have age and gender categories, with prizes in each one. The winners of the Big Races, both women and men, will take home bespoke trophies made by Jane Drysdale of The Glass Studio, Carnellian Crafts, as well as an envelope with prize money in it.
The annual Comrie Croft Barn Dance takes place that evening, so make a weekend of it!
